This year, Hajj pilgrims departing from Karachi Airport will undergo Saudi immigration and customs clearance directly at the airport. Dr. Syed Atta-ur-Rehman, Secretary of Religious Affairs, announced the implementation of the ‘Road to Makkah’ project to streamline these processes.

2. Advanced Technology Implementation

The ‘Road to Makkah’ project will introduce advanced immigration technology at Karachi Airport, promising to reduce immigration time to less than a minute. Modern technology in baggage handling will also be employed to ensure swift delivery and minimize the risk of loss.

3. Efficient Baggage Handling

Pilgrims’ belongings will be labeled and coded based on eight zones to enhance organization and facilitate smooth sorting and delivery processes. Goods will be delivered directly to residences, adding to the convenience of the pilgrims.

Dr. Syed Atta-ur-Rehman expressed gratitude for Karachi’s inclusion in the ‘Road to Makkah’ project and mentioned plans to expand the initiative to other airports in Pakistan. Currently, the facility is available only at Islamabad International Airport.
